Amadou Ba-Sy in Hearts transfer talks as six figure deal reignited after January attempt

Amadou Ba-Sy is in talks with Hearts over a six figure switch to Tynecastle. The powerful French hitman, who stands at 6 foot 3in, was a January target from French third tier side Rouen , but a deal never happened after they priced the Jambos out of a move.

However, it now appears to be back on with negotiations taking place over a summer switch. With Rouen knocked out of the Ligue 2 promotion playoffs, they are now open to letting Ba-Sy leave for Edinburgh if a deal can be agreed. The Jambos' interest pre-dates Lawrence Shankland' s departure to Rangers and Ba-Sy is not seen as a direct replacement for the Scotland striker. Derek McInnes wants an imposing front man added to his squad for an assault on the Champions League qualifiers and Ba-Sy fits the mould after being ranked highly by Jamestown Analytics.

The 24-year-old still has a year left to run on his Rouen contract, but it's understood that talks are at an advanced stage a move to Gorgie is likely. He will be joined by compatriot and former Championnat National rival Tom Renaud. The midfielder has agreed to join Hearts on a free transfer after his Versailles deal expires and will report for pre-season training at Riccarton. Versailles finished fifth in the table, two points behind Rouen.

Ba-Sy scored one of Rouen's two stoppage time goals in a 3-1 win back in January before Versailles revered the result away from home earlier this month.
