Rabat – Real Madrid star Brahim Díaz praised Morocco’s national team ahead of today’s official squad announcement, noting that the team is well-balanced and ready to achieve great things at the 2026 World Cup. Speaking to DAZN on Tuesday, the 26-year-old explained that the squad shares a “street football spirit” focused on enjoying the game. This mindset is what brings the players together, showing up on the pitch through quick passing and a confidence in one-on-one battles, he argued. “I think we all have that spirit, the spirit of street football, if you will, where you go out to enjoy yourself. It’s what connects you with your teammate, the one-two passes, and the one-on-one individual duels.” The Morocco international said. “I think we have a very balanced team, and we can achieve great things together,” Díaz added.
Hours after his optimistic comments, Díaz officially made the final World Cup squad, with head coach Mohamed Wahbi naming the Real Madrid star to Morocco’s roster for the tournament. Alongside Díaz, the list also features key pillars like Achraf Hakimi and Sofyan Amrabat, with rising talents like Bilal El Khannouss and Yassine Gessime. This mix of established leadership and youth perfectly reflects the squad balance Díaz spoke about before the official announcement. Co-hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico, the 2026 FIFA World Cup starts on June 11, with Morocco facing Brazil in their group opener two days later.
