Coronation Street fans have been left stunned after realising Rob Mallard - currently taking centre stage in the long-running show - also once appeared in Emmerdale . The actor arrived on-screen on the famous cobbles as Daniel Osbourne, the son of street stalwart Ken Barlow and uncle of serial love rat Adam Barlow, back in 2016, making him the third actor to take on the role.
But as already mentioned, it wasn't his first appearance in a soap. He first appeared in the Dales as Connor Jenson back in September 2015. He previously confused fans when he shared a snap from his time on another soap. Click here to sign up for more Coronation Street updates in our newsletter Rob arrived in Emmerdale as Connor when Robert Sugden hired the rent-boy to lure his father-in-law, Lawrence White, to bed.
He attempted to do so by painting his face with fake wounds and convinced Lawrence to take him to his home to help him. But when Connor made a move on Robert's estranged father-in-law, he was rejected and turned nasty, beating Lawrence up before robbing his belongings and fleeing the village. It was the following year that Rob joined Corrie in the role of Daniel, and he even appeared in Jack Whitehall's Channel 4 comedy Fresh Meat.
But it's his stint in the Dales that has got people talking as scenes from his stint have resurfaced on social media. Taking to X (formerly Twitter ) with a video, @Louiseee2012 said: "HELP how the hell have I never clocked before that Connor Jensen is Daniel Osbourne. This has actually blown my mind." The original poster then added: "Robert Sugden and Daniel Osbourne having insane chemistry. Who would have thought it." @xxgemxxo replied: "This has kept me up at night more than once and not in a good way." @HighStreetRichB shared: "I tweeted about this a few months back & it open up a whole can of lore lol." @gertieperkins8 added: "You’re very late but welcome to the party!
Some of us have been dreaming about Conbert for several years… Just really need to fill the gaps in Robert’s time away…" It comes as Rob is praised for his portrayal of Daniel in Corrie as his latest storyline unravels. The teacher's behaviour has been spiralling ever since he discovered that his new girlfriend, Megan Walsh, had been grooming teenager Will Driscoll, who she coached in Hull before their move to Weatherfield last year. After faking a break to get away from his family and other responsibilities, Daniel returned, only to be subject to online trolling from an account named 'Truthteller', with online users suggesting he was in on what Megan was up to, making him just as culpable. The abuse has seen Daniel's fragile state only grow, with him lashing out not only at his loved ones, but also at his students and as seen during Monday's (June 1) episode of Corrie, Megan herself as she made a sheepish return to the street.
After breaking down during his return to school, in Tuesday's (June 2) episode of Corrie, Daniel finally learned the truth. Jodie mentioned something about Daniel meeting up with his online troll, something he says only he and the person behind the account would know. With the penny dropping, Daniel confronted Jodie, only for her to quickly deny any involvement.
However, an emotional Daniel pushed, and Jodie was forced to admit that she was the one responsible.
