Coronation Street star Alan Halsall appears to have been saying goodbye to one of his co-stars as he shared a number of chaotic snaps to social media. The actor is famed for playing Tyrone Dobbs in the ITV soap, having made his Weatherfield debut, aged 16, in November 1998 in the role of the delinquent son of Jackie Dobbs.
But it was in 2023 that Tyrone discovered Jackie wasn't his biological mum, as his actual long-lost mother, Cassie Plummer, arrived in Weatherfield, with the news rocking the mechanic. However, it was previously confirmed that Claire will be waving goodbye to the famous cobbles after three years this summer. Her exit will come as she prepares to take on the role of Miss Hannigan in the upcoming tour of Annie. She will be taking over the role in July from Strictly Come Dancing star La Voix, who will be making her debut when the new tour gets underway in Wimbledon on May 23. And it seems Claire's time on the cobbles may have come to an end.
Taking to Instagram on Thursday (June 4) evening, Alan shared a number of snaps of himself, Claire, and Steve actor Simon Gregson on Instagram, in which they could be seen enjoying time together away from the cobbles. As getting the perfect photo proved quite chaotic, Alan shared a photo showing only Claire, looking directly into the camera and smiling, as he said: "Basically tells the story of the night!" He then added: "Gonna miss ya Mam @claire.sweeney." Claire then reshared the post to her own Instagram Story and gushed: "Love you to bits @alanhalsall [heart emoji]." It comes after Corrie boss Kate Brooks recently gave a hint at what could force Cassie away from Weatherfield as Tyrone's set to be gobsmacked by the arrival of his father.
Speaking to the Manchester Evening News, she revealed: "Tyrone's dad makes an appearance in the show. Needless to say, he comes with quite a bit of drama, and it's going to cause quite a lot of friction within that family, obviously, with Cassie’s history. "As you know, Cassie’s leaving us, and so it will contribute to her exit, which is going to be massive and quite explosive. It’ll be full of all the twists and turns that you can come to expect from an exit.
He comes into the world of Fiz and Tyrone. Tyrone’s in the mindset of, I'm in my 40s, I've survived this long without a dad. The dad is very keen to connect with Tyrone." She added: "It’s not long before the dad makes eyes at one of the residents, and maybe a bit of a relationship starts there. It's very domesticated.
It really shines a spotlight on Fiz and Tyrone as a couple and that dynamic as a family. Cassie is, needless to say, not happy that this guy has turned back up."
