The CID today handed over the DNA test report to the investigating officer in the case filed over the rape and murder of eight-year-old Ramisa in Dhaka's Pallabi. The Criminal Investigation Department forensic laboratory unit submitted the report around noon, clearing the way for police to file a chargesheet in the case. Confirming the development, Pallabi Police Station OC Hasan Basir told The Daily Star that the investigating officer is preparing to submit the chargesheet by tomorrow. A DNA test is a scientific method used to identify individuals through genetic material.
In rape and murder cases, biological samples collected from the victim, crime scene and suspects are analysed to determine genetic matches. The results are considered key forensic evidence in establishing involvement in such crimes.
Police officials said the chemical test report has also been submitted today.
