Ranveer Singh received a non-cooperation directive from the Federation of Western India Cine Employees for abruptly exiting Don 3 just a few days before the filming began. After the news broke on the internet, filmmaker Sanjay Gupta questioned the federation for ‘banning’ the Dhurandhar star in a tweet. Now, the FWICE has reacted to the Plan director’s X post and reminded him of the Mumbai Saga fallout. It has to be noted that the association has already clarified that they can’t ban the actor.
They have just issued a non-cooperation directive against him over the Don 3 dispute. FWICE Slams Sanjay Gupta For the unversed, Sanjay Gupta had questioned the film body’s decision to ban an actor, which effectively affected his film’s production, leading to the unemployment of several crew members who work on daily wages.
Reacting to his statement on X, the General Secretary of FWICE, Ashok Dubey, called out the filmmaker and reminded him of getting support from the federation during his fallout with Jackie Shroff after the latter quit, Mumbai Saga. In an interview with Hindustan Times, Ashok Dubey said, “I want to ask Sanjay Gupta ji that when a few years back his film Mumbai Saga was being shot and Jackie Shroff refused to come, IFTDA and the federation solved the problem. Where was this objection then?” Dubey also mentioned that the federation has not banned Ranveer Singh. As per NCD, members of the Federation can decide to not work with the actor.
The FWICE member further stated that they issued an NCD against Ranveer to curb the trend, as it could affect filmmakers and producers financially. Ranveer Singh’s Don 3 Dispute For the unversed, Ranveer Singh was roped in to play the lead role in Farhan Akhtar’s next directorial venture, Don 3.
However, the actor reportedly quit the film just a few days before the filmmaker commenced the shooting. Due to Ranveer’s actions, Farhan and Ritesh Sidhwani of Excel Entertainment approached the FWICE. They also demanded Rs 45 crore from the Gully Boy actor as compensation for their damage. FWICE tried to solve the matter but didn’t receive any action from Ranveer.
Eventually, the federation issued a non-cooperation directive against him. Ranveer Singh’s team issued a statement to the media. As per the statement, Ranveer Singh has consciously maintained his silence over the recent developments regarding Don 3. It has to be noted that Ranveer will next be seen in Pralay.
