Gujarat Titans (GT) players suffered a massive scare after the team bus carrying the squad back to the team hotel following the IPL final broke down due to a short circuit, PTI reported. The players were evacuated from the bus and waited nearly an hour on the road before another bus was arranged for them. No injuries were reported to the players despite the smoke spreading inside the bus. The incident added to the misery of the GT players, who were already down after a poor performance in the IPL final.
GT had a great run in the league stage; however, they failed to replicate the performance in the final, where they could only score 155-8 in 20 overs, and the target was easily chased by the RCB, courtesy of Virat Kohli's 75. This was the team's second defeat in the IPL final, having previously lost to Chennai Super Kings in the IPL 2023 final. Was Fatigue The Reason Behind GT's Below Par Outing?Following the loss to RCB in the Qualifier 1, GT travelled to Mullanpur from Dharamsala to play Qualifier 2 against the Rajasthan Royals on May 29. Their return to Ahmedabad was delayed due to bad weather, and they only reached the city on the eve of the match.
When asked if fatigue was the reason behind the team's poor outing in the final, Vikram Solanki, GT's Director of Cricket, refused to hide behind excuses and credited RCB for playing excellent cricket. "I don't want to take away from the fact that RCB have won by simply stating that we've had this number of games in these short days and we're fatigued and that's not really what we're about," said Vikram Solanki, GT’s Director of Cricket, in the post-match press conference. "Admittedly, it (155/8) was a below-par total, but they showed great fight to try and defend it. We might make an assessment of what we might have done differently; that's a given.
But I think you've got to accept that the opposition sometimes play well as well," he added. Get Latest News Live on Times Now along with Breaking News and Top Headlines from Cricket, IPL 2026, IPL Points Table, and around the Sports.
