Helen Flanagan has admitted she has “had enough stress” in her life following the emotional sale of the family home she once shared with ex fiancé Scott Sinclair. The former Coronation Street actress opened up about relationships, heartbreak and why she is no longer willing to settle for the wrong man after a difficult few years navigating life in the public eye. Speaking exclusively to Daily Star in collaboration with Paddy Power , Helen confessed she is now prioritising peace over drama when it comes to love. She said: “I’ve had enough stress in my life, so I want someone who communicates well and brings peace rather than conflict.” The TV beauty also admitted she has stepped away from modern dating altogether because she is now searching for something far more serious. “I don’t really date anymore because I’m at the stage where I actually want a husband,” Helen explained. “I don’t want to settle or have a boyfriend just for the sake of it.
I’d rather wait until I have the relationship I really want, even if that takes until my 40s.” The actress split from former footballer Scott Sinclair in 2022 after 13 years together. The pair share three children, Matilda, Delilah and Charlie. More recently, Helen also ended her relationship with boyfriend Robbie Talbot after around a year together. Following the break-ups and recent upheaval surrounding the sale of her family home, Helen admitted she is happier focusing her energy elsewhere rather than forcing a relationship. “I’d rather put my energy into my family, friends and career than be with the wrong person,” she said.
The star also revealed she has become far more guarded about her love life after years of scrutiny over her relationships. “For me, the biggest red flag is someone who just isn’t kind. You can feel someone’s energy quite quickly,” Helen explained. “I also keep my dating life private now because I’ve spent so much of my life in the public eye and been open about every relationship. “When I do meet my person, I’ll protect that relationship much more because everybody always has something to say.” Helen’s comments come shortly after she and Scott were spotted together for the first time in months while clearing out their former six-bedroom Cheshire mansion following its sale. Removal vans were seen outside the property as furniture and boxes were carried out from the luxury home, which had originally gone on the market for £1.5million before later being reduced to £995,000.
Despite the emotional circumstances, Helen appeared in good spirits in pictures obtained by Daily Star, smiling and clutching a Starbucks drink during the move. Reports suggest the property eventually sold for around £500,000 less than the original asking price. In the lead-up to the move, Helen had also been attempting to sell several expensive pieces of furniture online, including a huge sofa she admitted would not fit inside her new home.
Despite the challenges of the past few years, Helen insisted she is content with where life currently stands and would rather stay single than end up unhappy. “Where I’m at in my life now, I’m quite content,” she said. “Sometimes you can feel lonelier with the wrong person than you do on your own. “I’d rather spend my time with my family, friends and kids and wait for the right person than settle for the wrong relationship.” Have you joined Threads?
