Adam Scott proves he really can do any genre in Hokum, a new terrifying haunted house movie that’s coming to digital platforms to buy and rent tomorrow. Written and directed by Damian McCarthy (known for his other horror films Oddity and Caveat), Hokum stars Scott as a novelist named Ohm Bauman, who absconds to a remote inn to scatter the ashes of his late parents. Unfortunately for Ohm, the honeymoon suite at this hotel is very haunted. He’ll be dealing with more ghosts than just the memories of his parents, that’s for sure!
The Hokum supporting cast includes Peter Coonan, David Wilmot, Florence Ordesh, Michael Patric, Will O’Connell, Brendan Conroy, and Austin Amelio. The film first premiered at the South by Southwest Film Festival in March, where it was met with positive reviews from critics. If you didn’t get to see this buzzy horror flick in theaters, now is your chance to watch it at home.
That said, before you spend $25, you should know that we do expect to see the Hokum movie streaming free-to-subscribers on Hulu eventually. Hokum movie digital release date: Hokum will be available to buy or rent on digital platforms on Tuesday, June 2 at 12 a.m. Eastern Time (which is also 9 p.m. Pacific Time on June 1).
You’ll be able to buy and rent digitally on Amazon Prime, Apple TV, Fandango At Home, and more. The price may vary depending on which platform you use to purchase the film, but on Amazon Prime the movie will cost $24.99 to buy, and $19.99 to rent. If you rent the movie, you’ll have 48 hours to view after hitting “play.” The Hokum DVD release date has not yet been announced. Hokum is not yet available on a subscription streaming service, but we do expect to see Hokum streaming on Hulu eventually, because it was distributed by Neon in North America, and most Neon movies tend to go to Hulu, thanks to the Hulu and Neon output deal.
If you’re new to Hulu, you can get started with a 30-day free trial on the streamer’s basic (with ads) plan. After the trial period, you’ll pay $10.99/month. If you want to upgrade to Hulu ad-free, it costs $18.99/month. If you want to stream even more and save a few bucks a month while you’re at it, we recommend subscribing to one of the Disney+ Bundles, all of which include Hulu.
These bundles start at $12.99/month for ad-supported Disney+ and Hulu and goes up to $32.99/month for Disney+, Hulu, and Max, all ad-free. When will the 2026 Hokum movie be streaming on Hulu? You’ll likely see the Hokum movie streaming on Hulu sometime in the next few months, possibly around August 2026. (Provided the Hulu app isn’t phased out before then.) The Hokum Hulu release date has not yet been announced, but we can make an educated guess based on previous Neon releases on Hulu. Another Neon movie, The Secret Agent, began streaming on Hulu a little over three months after it opened in theaters.
If Hokum follows a similar release pattern, you may see Hokum on Hulu around early August 2026. On the other hand, another Neon release, Hell of a Summer, began streaming on Hulu about five months after opening in theaters—so it’s not a hard and fast rule. If Hokum follows that release pattern, you might not see the movie on Hulu until around early October 2026. (Just in time for Halloween!) It’s all speculation right now. If you want to see Hokum ASAP, you can buy or rent the film online now.
