Manisha Bhanwala and Neha clinched gold medals in the women’s categories as the Indian wrestlers won four gold and two bronze medals across the women's and Greco-Roman wrestling events at the Ulaanbaatar Open - a Ranking Series-level event in Mongolia - on June 5. The Indian contingent has established a strong position in the overall medal tally, with six medals secured so far. With Friday's bouts, the Indian Greco-Roman wrestlers' campaign came to an end with two gold medals and a bronze. The wrestlers delivered a series of impressive performances against a competitive international field to ensure India remained among the leading nations at the event.

Nitesh also emerged victorious in his category, claiming the 97kg title with a hard-fought 13-9 victory over Nurassyl Amanaly. Adding to India's tally, Sumit secured the 60kg bronze medal after defeating compatriot Sahil 5-0. “The performances by Manisha and Neha, alongside the three-medal showing from our Greco-Roman wrestlers, demonstrate our competitive strength at the international level,” said Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) President Sanjay Singh. “Winning gold medals against top opponents from DPR Korea and Kazakhstan reflects the quality of our preparation. This successful start provides excellent momentum for the rest of the tournament," he added.

Neha added another gold for India in the 59kg category, defeating DPR Korea's Pyol Hong 5-3.
Earlier, Neelam secured the bronze medal in the 50kg category with a dominant 10-0 technical-superiority victory over Kazakhstan’s Maral Tangirbergenova. The Men’s Freestyle division and the remaining weight categories of the Women’s Wrestling division will commence on June 6, offering India further opportunities to add to its medal haul at the prestigious Ranking Series event.
