New pay scale from July 1: Secretariat employees welcome budget announcement

Secretariat employees have expressed satisfaction over the government's announcement to implement the first phase of the Ninth Pay Scale in the upcoming fiscal year. Nazrul Islam, coordinator of the Inter-Ministry Employees Association, shared the reaction in a press release today. Finance Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury presented the budget for the 2026-2027 fiscal year in the National Parliament today. In his budget speech, the finance minister said, "Government employees have been receiving salaries and allowances under the same pay structure for the past 11 years.

"We are announcing the implementation of a new pay structure for government employees in phases, starting from July 1, 2026," the finance minister added.
