It was closed for the entirety of the three day festival, a sensible decision give that many road to get it it were closed to the public, but that didn't stop a much loved farm shop in the North East from making its presence felt at Radio 1's Big Weekend in Sunderland . And stars including Breakfast Show presenter Greg James lapped up the treats that were sent to them by Penshaw Farm Shop to enjoy. Ahead of what turned out to be an absolutely epic weekend for Sunderland, with the city's football team exceeding all expectations by qualifying for Europe, the farm shop, just over the road from where all the action was taking place at Herrington Country Park, announced it would be closing on Friday lunchtime, a short time before gates opened for day one. Given that all routes in and around where the farm shop is located, in the shadow of Penshaw Monument, were shut to anyone who didn't have a permit or wasn't driving a shuttle bus or production vehicle, it would have been tough for people to get to it during Big Weekend, although there were sure to be plenty of takers for its refreshments as temperatures soared.
