A Maricopa County jail guard was booked on a child sex crime allegation, according to authorities. Emmanuel Reyes Carreon was booked into jail on May 29 on suspicion of child sex trafficking, a Class 2 felony, according to jail records. Chandler police said Reyes Carreon was arrested May 28 in the southeast Valley city after detectives found a probable cause in the case, according to department spokesperson Marysol Green. Reyes Carreon graduated from the detention officer academy in April and was assigned to the Lower Buckeye Jail in Phoenix, according to Maricopa County Sheriff's Office spokesperson William Jinks.
As of May 30, the Sheriff's Office said, Reyes Carreon was on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation, Jinks said in an email. "We remain committed to working with the Chandler Police Department and maintaining the integrity of the investigative process and upholding the standards and accountability expected of all employees," read a statement from Jinks. As of May 30, Reyes Carreon was being held on a $200,000 bond in the Fourth Avenue Jail in downtown Phoenix, Sheriff's Office jail records showed.
