SC suspends judicial functions today in mourning for Advocate Yusuf Hossain's death

Chief Justice Zubayer Rahman Chowdhury has suspended judicial functions of both the Appellate and High Court Divisions of the Supreme Court for today in honour of Senior Advocate M Yusuf Hossain Humayun. Supreme Court Registrar General Muhammad Habibur Rahman Siddiquee issued a notification to this effect today. The chief justice also expressed shock at the death of Advocate Yusuf Hossain Humayun and prayed for the eternal peace of his departed soul. Md Yusuf Hossain Humayun, a former president of the Bangladesh Supreme Court Bar Association, breathed his last at a hospital in Dhaka yesterday.

He was 90. He is survived by his wife, two sons, a daughter, and a host of relatives, Advocate Awlad Hossain, a junior lawyer to Yusuf Hossain Humayun, told The Daily Star. His namaz-e-janaza was held at the Supreme Court premises this afternoon. Chief Justice Zubayer Rahman Chowdhury, judges of the Appellate and High Court Divisions, former Supreme Court judges, Bangladesh Supreme Court Bar Association President AM Mahbub Uddin Khokon, MP, former president Zainul Abedin, MP, and Attorney General Md Ruhul Quddus Kazal, among others, attended the janaza prayers.
