Shopper horrified as partner 'knocked unconscious' in 'unprovoked attack' in Birmingham

A shopper was left horrified after her partner was "knocked unconscious" in an "unprovoked attack" in Birmingham. Tia was out shopping with her boyfriend when he was assaulted in Yardley Road , near Yardley Cemetery , at around 10.30am on Wednesday, May 27. The couple had noticed a man approaching from behind before he suddenly launched the vicious attack. She said: "He then calmly walked back the same way he came, which made it feel like he specifically approached my boyfriend to attack him. "He accused my partner of being in a gang and said he 'targets women and children' - which is completely untrue. "My partner is a hardworking man who goes to work, comes back, plays Xbox and spends time with his girlfriend and family." Tia praised two members of the public who stopped to help the pair. "We're both so grateful," she added.
"A man called an ambulance and there was another man who kindly dropped us back home." She described the attacker as being around 5ft 8in tall, with an afro hairstyle and prominent cheekbones. West Midlands Police has launched an investigation into the attack. A force spokesperson told BirminghamLive : "We're investigating after a man was assaulted in Yardley Road , Birmingham , at around 10.30am on Wednesday. "Officers attended and the man was treated at hospital for injuries which are not believed to be life-changing.
