State defence lawyer appointed for accused in Ramisa murder case

The government has appointed a state defence lawyer to represent the accused in Ramisa murder case. Advocate Musa Kalimullah, a member of Dhaka Bar Association, will appear as state defence lawyer at state expense during the trial proceedings of the case, said a notification issued by the law ministry today. The case is currently under trial at the Dhaka Metropolitan Children Violence Suppression Tribunal. The case was filed with Pallabi Police Station on May 20 under sections 9(2)/30 of the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act, 2000, along with sections 201/34 of the Penal Code, according to the notification.
On May 19, Ramisa, a class 2 student at Popular Model High School, was found beheaded in the house of her neighbour, Sohel, 31.
