Mumbai: Shreyas Iyer is set to become India’s new T20 International captain, replacing Suryakumar Yadav as the selectors prepare for a leadership transition ahead of the upcoming tours of Ireland and England. According to reports, the decision reflects the team management’s long-term vision for the shortest format and follows growing concerns over Suryakumar’s recent struggles with form.

While Suryakumar led India to the T20 World Cup title earlier this year, selectors are now looking to build a fresh leadership group for the next cycle of international tournaments. Iyer has emerged as the leading candidate for the role following a strong domestic and IPL season.
