Three workers suffered burn injuries after a fire broke out at a digital scale warehouse in Old Dhaka's Bangshal area today. The injured -- Miraj, 25, Ifad, 20, and Rocky, 26, -- were rushed to the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery for treatment. The incident occurred around 11:00am at the warehouse of MR Enterprise in the Tekerhat area of Nawabpur, according to the victims. Miraj said they had returned to work after the Eid holidays and were opening the warehouse for the first time.
"As soon as we switched on the electrical connection inside the digital scale warehouse, a fire suddenly broke out around us, leaving the three of us burned," he said. Shawon Bin Rahman, resident surgeon at the burn institute, said the three victims were brought to the hospital from Bangshal with burn injuries. Miraj suffered burns to two percent of his body and was kept under observation, while Ifad and Rocky, who suffered burns to 25 percent and 23 percent of their bodies respectively, were admitted for treatment. The cause of the fire could not be immediately determined.
