Fifteen-year-old batting sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi made history on Friday by becoming the fastest Indian player to score 1,000 runs in Indian Premier League (IPL) history. The Rajasthan Royals (RR) opener achieved the milestone during the high-stakes GT vs RR Qualifier 2 playoff match against the Gujarat Titans (GT) at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium. By reaching 1,000 runs in terms of balls faced, the young southpaw shattered the all-time IPL record previously held by former Kolkata Knight Riders star Andre Russell, who took 545 balls. Sooryavanshi crossed the line comfortably inside his 440th delivery.
Earlier in the same innings, the Bihar-born prodigy also became the first player in world cricket to cross 500 Powerplay runs in a single T20 tournament.
