Super Eagles forward Akor Adams has expressed confidence in Nigeria's readiness for Wednesday's international friendly against Poland despite the team's limited time to prepare for the encounter in Warsaw. The three-time African champions arrived in the Polish capital on Monday after concluding their successful participation in the Unity Cup tournament in London, where they defeated Jamaica in the final. Adams, who was absent from the Unity Cup campaign, linked up with the squad in Warsaw as preparations began with 18 players. The number later increased to 21 following the arrival of Basel striker Philip Otele just hours before kickoff at the PGE Narodowy Stadium.
Speaking to Ubuntu Pitch ahead of the match, the Sevilla striker acknowledged the short preparation period but insisted the team remains fully focused and ready for the challenge. “We have had a very short time to train and to prepare for the game. Like always, I think we are ready,” he said. “We know why we are here. It’s a very good opponent and many of us have had many games in our legs through the season. So, we are ready and we will see what happens tomorrow.” Adams insisted that Nigeria will maintain her style of play against Poland, noting that under Eric Chelle, the Super Eagles have been building a clear footballing identity based on high intensity, aggressive pressing and effective use of possession. “We have tried since the head coach came to build an identity around our strength.
We play with a lot of intensity,” the Sevilla striker added. “We try to be as aggressive as possible and also we try to play with the ball. Take chances when we have them. “Like every other game, we are going to play the same way, keep our DNA and try to get a good result.” The friendly presents another opportunity for Chelle to continue rebuilding the Super Eagles following their failure to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the United States, Canada and Mexico. A positive result against Poland would further boost confidence within the squad as the Malian tactician seeks to establish a competitive team capable of returning Nigeria to the summit of African football.
