In good news for WhatsApp users, the Meta-owned instant messaging platform is reportedly working on a new feature which will allow make it easier for users to send messages that can hide sensitive content behind a blurred layer. The feature is currently under development and is expected to roll out to beta testers in the coming weeks. There is no word yet on when it will be available to all users. "The new formatting tool will allow users to hide selected text as spoiler content before sending a message," WABetaInfo, a website that tracks WhatsApp, reported.
A new demo video shared by WABetaInfo shows that the Meta-owned app is testing a formatting tool that can hide selected text behind a blurred layer before a message is sent. The recipient will need to tap on the message to reveal the hidden text. The feature is designed to make conversations more convenient, especially when discussing movies, TV shows, sports results or other sensitive information that some people may not want to see right away. WhatsApp Will Soon Let You Clear Status Media Without Deleting Chats In Seconds According to the demo, the spoiler formatting option will work with both text messages and media captions.
WhatsApp may also expand the feature to support photos and videos in a future update. "It could also help reduce accidental spoilers in group chats where not everyone is following the same content at the same pace," the report said. This is not the only feature Meta is working on. WhatsApp is also planning to release a feature that adds status updates to the top of the Chats tab.
That means users can view status updates from multiple entry points. The primary location is the Updates tab, where all status updates are organized in a horizontal feed. In this section, users can also see previews of recent updates from their contacts without necessarily opening them. The feature is available to some beta testers who install the latest WhatsApp beta for iOS update from TestFlight.
Only limited number of users may also be able to test the feature even through the version available on the App Store. Get Latest News live on Times Now along with Breaking News and Top Headlines from Technology Science and around the world.
