Rajasthan Royals (RR) were hit with a major blow during the second qualifier of the 2026 Indian Premier League (IPL) against Gujarat Titans as Ravindra Jadeja walked off the field mid-innings after making a quick start with 34 runs in just 19 balls. The 37-year-old walked off the field at the end of the 9th over with the Royals in a comfortable position at 82-8 after the end of eight overs. Jadeja retired hurt due to an elbow injury. He called for the physio in the middle of the over and received lengthy treatment.
However, he played three more balls after that and decided he could not continue batting even more. It is not clear how the Indian cricket legend suffered the injury. The good news for RR is that he can bat again as he not 'retired out.' In instances of 'retired hurt', players can bat again at any point after the fall of a wicket. He returned to bat in the 13th over after Royals lost their fifth wicket after Jofra Archer's dismissal.
The bigger worry for the Royals is whether Jadeja can bowl, as his quota of four overs is a key part of the Parag-led team's bowling plans. More to follow... Get Latest News Live on Times Now along with Breaking News and Top Headlines from Cricket, IPL 2026, IPL Points Table, and around the Sports.
